There’s something that happens to you when you become a parent. It’s something that you can’t describe but can only feel. From the first time I held you, I was flooded with emotions. When I looked at your beautiful face, I just knew, you were what I was waiting for.
I may have given you life, but in all reality, you gave me mine. I sometimes can’t even remember what life was like before you. From the day you were born, my whole world changed and took on a completely new meaning. I wasn’t just a woman or a wife anymore, I was your mom. You gave me a love that I didn’t even know existed.
You have taught me so many things in the past year and a half of your life. I’ve learned how to express gratitude even more that I already did, cultivate optimism, to stop over-thinking situations and comparing myself to others, to really practice acts of kindness, learn to forgive, savor the little joys in life, commit to my goals, practice spirituality and to take care of YOU.
You have been my greatest joy. Some days, you can be a little challenging. Some days our world gets turned upside down because things don’t always goes according to plan. But even in the midst of all the struggles, the chaos, the temper tantrums, you still bring me so much joy. One smile, one laugh, one look can completely erase all my worries, stress and tiredness.
I think about all the women who aren’t able to have children or the moms who have lost their children and it breaks my heart. I can’t even imagine my life without you. You are my reason for living. I wake up every day wondering what you will teach me.
Being your mom has been my greatest adventure. I love everything about being your mom, there isn’t a day that goes by that I’m not thankful for you. I may have given you life, but really, you gave me mine.
