He created us to be a perfect mother to our children.
Does she have magical powers?
It’s hard not to compare our mothering journeys to everyone else’s. We’re constantly bombarded by what we should be doing with our babies that it’s exhausting. Every one has an opinion on one thing or another, and always…always takes it to social media for the world to see. Which can easily make that “UGH” feeling happen, just like the perfect Instagram mom.
“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago.”-Ephesians 2:10
Those “good things” are our babies. A long time ago God planned that these were the babies we’d raise. He planned it so that we would be the perfect mama for them, whether we post it on Instagram or not. Only we can care for our babies the way that God intended. Because we’re their mama. Each one of us is different.
I’d love to say I’ve got the tidiest house, with no laundry piled up anywhere. But I can’t. What I can say, is that just like my hands, my heart is so full. My baby is healthy and happy. She’s growing like a weed, and although I’m trying to figure out how to stop it, I love watching it. I’ve got a husband who loves and supports me. My life is perfect…to me.
What if we stopped looking at the perfect Instagram mom with the attitude of, “I’ll never be like that” and more of an attitude of, “You go, girl. You do you.” In a really positive way.
Because what ever she’s doing is working for her. Getting up early, or finding that perfect background for her pictures. It’s working. Mine just happens to be sleep, and lots of it. And whatever we’re doing…is working. We’re doing it right. We’re doing it the perfect way we’d like to. Whatever your Instagram looks like, it’s perfect. Because God created you to be the perfect mom to your children.
