My life has been one crazy roller coaster since 2017 began. It seemed like every day my family was getting hit with something else. It started in December when my husband and I found out we were going to have a baby and then four days later the doctor called confirming the miscarriage. It was followed by the first of the year my sister’s husband walking out on her and their kids, then my mom having to put her dog down and the icing on the cake for me was finding out my sister-in-law was pregnant and due when I was. In those moments, it’s easy to get discouraged. For some it’s wondering why God is doing this to you, where is God when you need Him, when will we catch a break. But I’m here to let you know a little secret, God is right there with you. He never leaves you nor forsakes you.
Sometimes He uses these struggles as a life lesson or to make way for a better story. God has a wonderful story planned for each of us, and His story is sometimes different than the one we try to write, but His story, is so much better. It’s comforting, really to know that He is in control, but it doesn’t always take away the pain or sorrow.
Last night I was woke up in the middle of the night and I was tossing and turning and tossing and turning. I couldn’t get comfortable and my brain wouldn’t turn off. I kept thinking and thinking until a song popped into my head. Have you ever heard the song, The Rock Won’t Move by Vertical Church Band? It is a perfect song for those who are struggling. For those who feel like their whole “world is washing out to sea.” A song that reminds us that “The Rock won’t move, His word is strong.”
Through these rough times in life, we need to sing out to God, sing out that “On Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand, The Rock won’t move, The Rock won’t move, When darkness seems to hide His face, I rest on His unchanging grace, The Rock won’t move, the Rock won’t move!”
That no matter what you are going through in life, keep your faith in God. He is planning something wonderful for you and in His time. It may not go according to “our plan” but trust in Him, He knows what He is doing.
