Satan Wants to Win

April 12, 2017

Put on the armor of God every day.

Motherhood isn’t short of it’s challenges. We face challenges daily. In other words, some days our kids “give us a run for our money.” Some days we can handle things pretty well and other days we may ask ourselves “should I have reacted differently.” Do you ever just sit there with tears or a heavy heart feeling like you failed? I’ve had my share of days or moments throughout the day when I feel guilty. When I feel like I’ve failed. It’s hard work being a mom and we are human. We are going to fail. We need to admit that and once we do, we are ready to fight.

Satan is there, every day, every moment just waiting for the opportunity to strike and he always strikes when we are the most weak. He breaks us down. He makes us feel worthless. Like failures. He wants to see our hope, our faith slip away and what better way to start then by the biggest job there is: with our motherhood.

As Christian moms, the most important thing we want to teach our children, is that they have a Savior who loves them. We want them to grow up and know the Lord. To have a personal relationship with Him. There’s no greater joy that seeing our children talk about Jesus. Just last night at dinner, my almost 2 year old prayed for dinner. Without being asked, with no encouragement, with no help. We were just sitting there waiting for dinner and he prayed. That was the biggest #proudmommoment I’ve ever had. Sure, he may not understand exactly what he is doing or what is really means, but it’s a step in that direction.

The biggest threat to Satan, is standing firm in our faith and raising our children to do the same. He wants nothing more than to turn everyone away from God. He does that through media, the community, your own exhaustion, fear, anxiety, impatience and resentment. He is there to tear down your faith. So if Satan is there, around every corner, throwing punches and jabs at you, how are you going to win this fight?

Put on the Armor of God. Ephesians 6:10-18 says “10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.”

God is there. Ready to fight alongside us. We aren’t in this alone. We have the best weapon against the enemy. Stand firm, be grounded in your faith. Read your bible, study it and know it so “Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong ” (Ephesians 3:17). “Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness” (Colossians 2:7).

Put on the armor of God every day. Every morning prepare yourself for battle. Satan comes when you’re least expecting it. He wears you down and attacks when you’re the most vulnerable. Prepare yourself before you step foot out bed. Arm yourself and win.
