Take A Break From Chasing After Your Kids and Chase Your Dreams!

May 10, 2016

College, internship, marriage, baby. That’s the way my cookie seems to be crumbling so far.

As soon as I graduated college I jumped right into an internship. Then the next thing I knew I was married. It wasn’t but a few months after that I had my bundle of joy. Needless to say my career dreams were instantly put on hold to make my mom dreams come true!

After becoming a mother my dreams of being an entrepreneur were not only shoved to the side, they were buried.  As a new mom my own dreams were the furthest thing from my mind. I was consumed with making sure that my little bundle of joy was healthy and happy.

Instead of going back to work I decided to stay at home with my little one. I dreamt of being a stay at home mom since I was a little girl, but I also knew I wanted to be more than that.

I often questioned why God had planned my life this way, and wondered how I was ever going to make my career dreams come true now that my main focus is my family.  I struggled with what I wanted to do and how I could even manage starting a career while being a mama. I felt overwhelmed, discouraged and a little selfish for even thinking about chasing my career dreams.

Many mamas often forget their own dreams or put them on the back burner. Sometimes we may even feel a little selfish for chasing our dreams. But God has placed those dreams in our hearts for a reason. Why feel guilty for something like that?

God doesn’t want us to limit ourselves. He can use our dreams and use us, even as mothers. No dream is too big for Him!

I am now chasing my dreams and I encourage you all to follow your heart and go for yours. With these 3 tips you can be well on your way to making your dreams come true!

Take the Time & Invest

I know as mamas the last thing we have is time, but if you want to make your dreams happen then it is going to take that investment. Have your hubby take the kids out for a little while on the weekend and bunker down on some work. Or even stay up a little later at night to get some extra work in. Dreams don’t always come easy and they take time.

Have a Good Support System

Everyone knows that this is a huge part of following your dreams or even just life in general. Having a support system is always so important. Whether it is your family, hubby, friends, or God, make sure that they are there for you. Whenever you may be doubting yourself or not sure what to do, go to your support system.

Stay determined

A lot of times people tend to give up on their dreams because they don’t have the determination to make them happen. You are important and so are your dreams. Just because we are mamas doesn’t mean we have to forget about ourselves. As long as you have determination you can make anything happen!

God put those desires in your heart for you to pursue them. So get out there mamas and make your dreams happen. Follow your heart, get a support system, find the time, stay determined and make your dreams come true!
