I love receiving hand written notes and pictures drawn by my little men. It seriously makes this mama’s heart flutter each time.
When Mother’s Day (and many other holidays) comes, cards are naturally picked out by your spouse and little ones to be written in and given. Suddenly you could probably fill a pretty good size storage bucket with cards, and then they seem like a nuisance and clutter! Especially in our home since we strive for simple living.
So last year I was determined to find a new way to commemorate Mother’s Day and keep the cute drawings and notes from Josh and the boys. While at one of my many trips at Target, I strolled through the notebook sedition and picked out the prettiest one that I really loved. I think it was about $15-$18.
I took it home and showed Josh that this is what I wanted to use for Mother’s Day instead of cards. Each boy gets a page per year (plus Josh gets a page), and they can draw and write a sweet note and picture for me to open on Mother’s Day and also to have as a keepsake! Honestly friend, it’s made me enjoy Mother’s Day so much more and I love looking back now on the cute drawings!!
It’s truly a treasure and I can’t wait to see it filled over the years. If you also struggle sometimes with holding onto cards or throwing them away, why not try this route?
I have even decided to make one for our anniversary (so wish I had started this sooner!) this year. I am making our anniversary one with love notes and a little “look back at our year” page. It makes these special days so much more memorable and purposeful.
Want to try it? Grab a pretty notebook or journal from Target and go to town! Tag me on IG if you do buy one! I would love to see what you chose.
